Nioja POS Agent Terms of Service
Ownership: Nioja is owned by Lumaarc Company Ltd. These terms govern participation as a Nioja POS Payment Gateway Agent.
1. Double Trust payment method
Nioja uses one POS payment method: Double Trust. The buyer pays a registered POS agent, and the agent holds the buyer’s order funds under these terms while the order is processed and reviewed. The agent is the buyer’s local payment custodian and must keep clear records of every payment.
- The buyer reviews the product specifications, total order amount, POS service fee, seller information, and applicable delivery arrangements before confirming the order.
- The buyer may visit the agent’s registered shop to verify the agent’s identity and business location before paying.
- The agent enters the buyer’s full name and exact order total in the agent dashboard and generates a unique Nioja payment code.
- The agent gives the code to the buyer. The buyer enters it at checkout. The code is an order reference only; it is not proof that payment has been received.
- The agent records the buyer’s payment and remits 10% of the order amount to Lumaarc Company Ltd. through the approved process. The agent holds the remaining 90% until the agreed shipment and inspection conditions are satisfied.
- The payment code expires after 48 hours and can be used once. The checkout total and buyer name must match the code record. The order remains pending until payment and fulfilment are independently confirmed.
2. Order review, payment release and refunds
- When the order is ready for shipment, the applicable fulfilment status is recorded. The agent must follow the authorised settlement instructions and must not release the held funds early.
- After the buyer receives the order, the buyer reviews it against the confirmed specifications. If accepted, the order proceeds to settlement under the approved process.
- If the order is not received, is missing, damaged, incomplete, or materially different from the confirmed specifications, the buyer may open a dispute and request a refund review.
- A buyer cannot cancel a confirmed order solely because they have changed their mind, subject to the published terms and applicable law.
- Refund requests must be recorded, reviewed, authorised, and confirmed only after the refund has actually been paid. The agent must not promise or mark a refund as completed before payment confirmation.
3. Agent remittance and early release
The agent’s 10% remittance to Lumaarc Company Ltd. is a required part of the Double Trust arrangement. If the agent releases the remaining buyer funds before the agreed shipment conditions are satisfied, that 10% remittance is non-refundable under the proposed policy, subject to the signed agent agreement and applicable law. The treatment of the remittance in a seller default, cancellation, or failed-fulfilment case will follow the applicable written agreement and refund decision.
4. POS service fee
The proposed buyer-facing POS service fee is calculated on the order amount: 5% below ₦200,000; 3.5% from ₦200,000 to below ₦1,000,000; and 2.5% at ₦1,000,000 and above. The applicable fee must be disclosed before the buyer agrees to use the service. The POS service fee is separate from the agent’s 10% remittance to Lumaarc Company Ltd. and from any delivery charge.
5. Delivery services are optional for POS agents
Providing the POS payment gateway service is compulsory for approved Nioja POS agents. Registering for delivery services is optional. Individual sellers remain responsible for arranging delivery. Nioja may initiate Jumia Logistics delivery for eligible destinations where the service is available. An agent who separately registers for delivery may accept eligible delivery assignments and earn the applicable delivery fee; an agent who does not register for delivery has no delivery obligation.
6. Agent duties and accountability
- Provide accurate identity, business, contact, location, bank and guarantee information, and transact only after approval.
- Verify the buyer’s payment through the approved process. Never rely solely on a screenshot, code, SMS, or verbal statement.
- Keep the buyer’s funds secure and separate from personal spending, maintain accurate records, and follow authorised release and refund procedures.
- Use buyer information only to process the order and related support.
- Cooperate with Nioja reviews and provide payment, shipment, and dispute evidence when requested.
7. Agreement and administration
Nioja may review agent activity, investigate discrepancies, and suspend or terminate access for false confirmations, misuse of funds, unauthorised deductions, or material breaches of these terms. Financial actions and material status changes may be recorded in the platform audit trail. These terms should be read together with the applicable agent agreement, buyer terms, refund policy, and Nigerian law.
By selecting “I have read and agree,” you confirm that you understand the Double Trust payment process, payment-code rules, 10% remittance requirement, refund process, service fees, and optional nature of delivery services.
